Dipali Shirsat

Dipali Shirsat is the founder of ‘The Visual Poetry, ’ a lighting design practice based in Dubai, U.A.E. Coming from an artistic background, Dipali did her Bachelor’s in Architecture from Mumbai University, India & a specialization, M.Sc. in Lighting Design from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden.

With an experience of more than 8 years in the lighting design industry and having worked internationally across Stockholm, Mumbai & Dubai. Her studio – ‘The Visual Poetry’- focuses on providing architectural lighting design solutions and works in the realm of light art installations. The studio has been working on numerous luxury villas, high-end restaurants & high-rise towers in the U.A.E & India.

Passionate about light & lighting design, her ongoing research focuses on the non-visual sense and developing lighting practices with an inclusive design approach. One of the finalists for the Society of Light & Lighting (S.L.L), UK – Young Lighter 2020 award, the research was presented at numerous international events and speaking sessions such as the Digital LED Professional Symposium 2020 and, Institution of Lighting Professionals (ILP) Summit 2022.

Dipali was featured in ARC magazine’s Women in Lighting Series for her research on Multisensory Design. She won the Silhouette Award in 2022, which recognizes the top young lighting designers in the industry.

Dipali is an affiliate member of the CIBSE, UK, and a licensed Architect at C.O.A, India.
